He humbled himself before God and man by being baptized by John, washing His disciples feet, standing before Pilate and ultimately dying on the cross. Not once did He show a modicum of pride. He was the preeminent example of humility.
If we are truly trying to follow Jesus, we should never allow ourselves to be prideful, even of our most noble accomplishments. We should instead defer to He to whom all credit is properly due. Only the truly humble can never be humiliated.
Who fed you in the wilderness with manna that your fathers did not know, that he might humble you and test you, to do you good in the end. [Deuteronomy 8:16]

I say to the boastful, ‘Do not boast,’ and to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up your horn; do not lift up your horn on high, or speak with haughty neck.’” For not from the east or from the west and not from the wilderness comes lifting up, [Psalm 75:4-6]
Whoever slanders his neighbor secretly I will destroy. Whoever has a haughty look and an arrogant heart I will not endure. [Psalm 101:5]
The Lord lifts up the humble; he casts the wicked to the ground. [Psalm 147:6]
Toward the scorners he is scornful, but to the humble he gives favor. [Proverbs 3:34]
The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate. [Proverbs 8:13]
When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom. [Proverbs 11:2]
The fear of the Lord is instruction in wisdom, and humility comes before honor. [Proverbs 15:33]

If you are, remember it is not you who support the root, but the root that supports you. Then you will say, “Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in.” That is true. They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand fast through faith. So do not become proud, but fear. For if God did not spare the natural branches, neither will he spare you. Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant [1 Corinthians 13:4]

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. [Colossians 3:12-14]
He is puffed up with conceit and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy craving for controversy and for quarrels about words, which produce envy, dissension, slander, evil suspicions, [1 Timothy 6:4]
But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. … [2 Timothy 3:1-17]
Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. [1 Peter 3:8]
Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” [1 Peter 5:5]
Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, [1 Peter 5:6]
Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you. [James 4:10]
But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” [James 4:6]
